What Are Sprites?

Sprites are collectible companions that give you passive perks in Fortnite matches. You equip one before the game, level it up while playing, and if you successfully extract it, you keep all its progress forever. They're the core mechanic of the Chapter 7 Season 3 "Runners" map, Shattered Coast.

How Do You Get Sprites?

When you first play Chapter 7 Season 3, you pick one starter Sprite:

🔥 Fire
💧 Water
🌍 Earth

After that, you unlock more by finding them during matches and extracting them. Sprite Chests, Boss Sprites, Fishy Sprites, Vaults, and Guardian Cases are all locations you can find new Sprites — you can see exact spawn locations on the interactive map.

How Do Sprites Level Up?

Your equipped Sprite earns Sprite XP from normal gameplay. Things that give Sprite XP:

ActionXP
📦 Opening chests and ammo boxes75
🤝 Assists75
💀 Knock an opponent100
🏆 Extracting Sprites100+
💀 Eliminations200
👑 Victory RoyaleBonus

Every Sprite can reach Level 5. Once you extract a Level 5 Sprite, it's considered Mastered forever.

Extraction — How to Keep a Sprite

⚠️ THE CATCH

If you die or leave the match before extracting, you lose the Sprite you were carrying that match. Its levels aren't gone forever — you just didn't permanently save that progress. That's why extraction is one of the biggest parts of the mode.

THREE WAYS TO KEEP A SPRITE
📦 Use an Extraction Site
📱 Use a Portable Extractor
👑 Win the match (Victory Royale)

Successfully extracting a Sprite permanently unlocks it, saves all the levels it earned, and gives you Sprite Dust.

What Is Sprite Dust?

Sprite Dust is the currency for the whole Sprite system. You use it to:

✨ Summon unlocked Sprites
⬆️ Upgrade Sprite rarity
📱 Buy Portable Extractors
📦 Buy daily XP boosts
🔍 Scan for nearby Sprites

Sprite Abilities

Every Sprite has its own passive ability. Some are simple, while others completely change how you play:

Sprite Variants Explained

Almost every Sprite can come in special variants. These aren't different Sprites — they're different versions of the same Sprite, each with an extra bonus stacked on top of its normal ability.

Base
Standard Sprite — the foundation of your collection
🟨 Gold
3x bonus Sprite XP from eliminations
🍬 Gummy
20% more Sprite Dust on extraction
🌌 Galaxy
30% more ammo whenever picked up
✨ Holofoil
30% chance your squad finds rare Sprites from containers
💎 Gem
30% damage reduction to fall damage

Variant rarity is not equal — some are much harder to find than others. Burnt Peanut is the only Sprite that doesn't have special variants.

CAN YOU TRADE SPRITES?

No. You can't trade, gift, or sell Sprites. Every Sprite and every variant has to be found and extracted by you.

Why People Are Grinding Sprites

The goal isn't just getting every Sprite. Players are trying to:

✅ Unlock every base Sprite
🎨 Find every special variant
⭐ Master every Sprite to Level 5
🏆 Complete the full collection
🎁 Unlock milestone rewards

That's why FNSpots is actually useful — it lets you instantly see what you've collected, what's still missing, and how close you are to 100%.
